2nd Day of the Octave of the Epiphany

One of the great things about having an Octave for the Epiphany is that the chance to repeat the Propers of the Feast several times. It is a most beautiful office - both Mass, and the Hours.

Here are the antiphons of Lauds and Vespers.

1. Ante luciferum genitus et ante saecula, Dominus Salvator noster hodie mundo apparuit.
The Lord our Saviour, begotten before the day-star and all ages, appeared  to the world on this day.


2. Venit lumen tuum, Jerusalem, et gloria Domini super te orta est; et ambulabunt Gentes in lumine tuo, Alleluia.
Thy light is come, O Jerusalem, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee and the Gentiles shall walk in thy light, Alleluia.


3. Apertis thesauris suis, obtulerunt Magi Domino aurum, thus, et myrrham. Alleluia.
 Opening their treasures, the Magi offered to the Lord gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Alleluia.


4.  Maria et flumina, benedicite Domino: hymnum dicite, fontes, Domino. Alleluia.
Ye seas, and rivers, bless the Lord: ye fountains, sing a hymn to the Lord. Alleluia.


5. Stella ista sicut flamma coruscat, et Regem regum Deum demonstrat: Magi eam viderunt, et magno Regi munera obtulerunt.
This star shineth as a flame, and pointeth out God, the King of kings: the Magi saw it, and offered gifts to the great King.
